Tayyib Ali | Reading & Writing Is For Dumb People™

I got an email last night from some dude promoting this kid named Tayyib Ali. It didn’t provide any insight on this Ali character, not even a picture, which is generally a red flag for some bullshit & otherwise ridiculously duck sauced material. For whatever reason, I assumed it was rap just because. It didn’t even offer specifics to the genre of music. However, I figured what the hell & gave it a whirl, for lack of too much else going on at the moment. Not for nothing, but too, his name sounded so similar to Talib Kweli’s, to me at least, that I had to see if the style was equally as similar. In which case, this post would have still been about Ali, just in an unflattering way.

I’m not in the practice of reviewing & critiquing music, but I’ll say that the kid’s not wack by any means. & by kid, I mean that my quickest guess says he’s roughly 18 years old. Beats, rhymes, & content (which are mandatory for the sport & somewhat the same these days-no shots) aside, the best thing going for him is that he seems to have a solid promotion, as well as production team to back up his young man raps. He’s not the illest rapper, or any illogical equivalent of that, but he’s going places. I’m positive of that much.
